News & Events

Teaching at Bridgeport High School allows me to inspire students to believe in their ability to achieve their dreams. My purpose is rooted in the belief that wisdom, truth, and education shapes the whole person. I am called to share my knowledge and guide students toward growth and fulfillment. I cherish being part of this vibrant, close-knit community, where the warm, small-town atmosphere makes every day feel like home.DeAndre Benton, Social Studies Teacher & Coach

My years at Bridgeport High School have been incredibly rewarding both professionally and personally. BHS is a place where students’ creativity and individuality are celebrated, and I feel privileged to guide them as they grow into confident young adults. From advising yearbook and TAFE to teaching in the classroom, I am constantly inspired by our students’ talent and determination. The collaboration among staff and the support from our BISD community make this campus feel like family. Each day I am reminded why I chose to build my career here; the relationships, the opportunities to help students succeed, and the joy of watching them achieve their goals make BHS the perfect place to be.

Like many other teachers here, I also graduated from Bridgeport ISD, and it has been a great experience. I get the opportunity to walk in the same shoes as some of my favorite teachers with the goal of being a great role model and helping students become creative thinkers. Starting my teaching career in Bridgeport was the right decision for me, getting to form bonds with staff and students.
